The Whitworth hosts a new textile exhibition next month; this time the works of influential designer Barbara Brown are its subject. Brown was the golden girl of Heal Fabrics Ltd back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, helping to define the interior aesthetic in Britain at that time. Her screen-printed designs for furnishing fabrics are some of the most dazzling and distinctive ever produced; they have a nostalgic charm to them and won many awards from the Council of Industrial Design. This is the first major solo exhibition in the UK and will leave lasting impression.
