The Whitworth opens its doors to an exhibition celebrating the oeuvres of one of the radical originators and innovators of the European tradition of printmaking, Raimondi in Autumn 2016. He was one of the leading printmakers of the Italian Renaissance and is best known for his groundbreaking collaboration with the Renaissance artist Raphael. Raimondi’s work enabled Renaissance artists to share their designs in print, sparking a revolution in visual communication that is still relevant today. This is the first Raimondi exhibition for 35 years and a UK first.
