For the past 19 years, Rogue Artists Studios have been offering affordable and accessible studio space for Manchester’s artists – an invaluable service in this harsh economic climate – and now they are throwing open their gates to the public. The previously closed-off creative womb will be exposed for one weekend, allowing ordinary art enthusiasts the opportunity to see work in a variety of media. Film, installations, interactive art, performance, photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles and painting all make an appearance in this Willy Wonka’s factory of free expression. You won’t need a golden ticket to attend though, as it’s an open event – set across three floors at their Crusader Mill home and designed to encourage casual aesthetes to view, engage with and perhaps purchase work from Rogue’s stable of over 90 artists. Also during this weekend, visitors will be able to witness the launch of the new collaborative project ‘Caustic Coastal’ in the main project space, and the opening of the new ‘Cardroom’ gallery space. If one weekend isn’t enough, artists are available by appointment for the duration of the following week.
