Band on the Wall’s film club has been on a winning streak of late, and that trend shows no sign of stopping. This May, there will be a screening of the new documentary Industrial Soundtrack for the Urban Decay. The film is a look at industrial music, and traces its genesis in the mid-1970s to its legacy today. Inspired by Krautrock and William S. Burroughs, the genre used tape loops, audio cut-ups, and homemade synths to make a challenging, provocative form of music. Many artists are profiled in the film, including genre pioneers Throbbing Gristle, and Sheffield’s own Cabaret Voltaire. Also interviewed is the award-winning soundtrack composer Graeme Revell, formerly of SPK. The directors of the film, Amelie Ravalec and Travis Collins, will be a hosting a Q+A after the screening.
