Quays Culture announces a 100ft balloon sculpture by Umbrellium as the centrepiece attraction of its Mini Burble event this July. The digital, LED-lit spectacle will illuminate the night sky above Salford Quays – a fitting installation for the area known for housing MediaCityUK. Its lights are controlled from the ground, and the event marks its debut appearance in the UK, having already wowed crowds across the world in Dubai, Hong Kong, Paris and Barcelona. The Salford version will feature additional performances on the opening and closing nights. On Tuesday 14 July, the HONOUR Choir will return to the scene of their acclaimed performance at last year’s Quays Culture production to mark the anniversary of WWI, while on Saturday 18 July, the team behind the London 2012 Opening Ceremony choreograph a display for a 100-strong contingent of street dancers. With two free performances per evening across the week from 14-18 July, it has the potential to be a perfect destination for families and arts fans alike.
