Manchester brewery Blackjack is taking over The Smithfield pub on Swan Street – re-opening it as its tap house on Thursday 18 June. The brewery, which was established in 2012 and hosts a monthly brewtap at its Gould Street site, has been working on what it is calling ‘a modern day proper pub’ since the start of the month. The Smithfield tap house will soft launch in the new few days ahead of its official opening night. Blackjack Brewery, together with GRUB and Shebeen Events, organised last month’s Shebeen Festival in the Green Quarter.

Opens Thu 18 Jun, The Smithfield, 37 Swan Street, M4 5JZ, 6pm – 11pm (opening night), www.blackjack-beers.com/smithfield, @TheSmithfieldNQ
