It’s been five years since the release of their last album, Heligoland, in 2010, but Massive Attack certainly haven’t been forgotten about. Emerging from Bristol in the early 90’s to turn the British music scene on its head, the trip hop pioneers roused excitement as they gave listeners a fresh taste of their hip hop, jazz, soul and dub. Their second single Unfinished Sympathy from 1991 had already hypnotised music-lovers, but they had plenty of other gems to deliver, collaborating with fellow trailblazers as Neneh Cherry and Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins (which birthed Teardrop). They’ve had a turbulent history with several members leaving, but Robert “3D” del Naja and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall aren’t going anywhere; they’ll be releasing new music later this year. Already garnering tremendous amounts of attention, this show will be supported by hip hop Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers.
