People, a new comedy by the British playwright Alan Bennett, will arrive in Manchester next month, following multiple sell-out shows at the National Theatre. People follows Dorothy and her archdeacon sister who wants to hand the estate to the National Trust – but Dorothy favours a more creative solution. Alan Bennett is best known for his 1960 play Beyond The Fringe and the award-winning play and film The History Boys. Bennett and Manchester-born director Nicholas Hytner reunite for this comedy following their previous collaborations including the celebrated The History Boys and The Habit of Art. With numerous successes, as a collaboration team as well as individual successes, People is sure to be entertaining, funny and emotional.
