Austrian hang player and composer, Manu Delago, brings his ambient percussion show to Band on the Wall this April. The hang is a steel-based, UFO-shaped drum (of sorts) which is melded from two half shells. Like a soft-sounding steel drum in tone, the instrument creates ambient subtleties that caress the ears, creating the foundations onto which Delago splices electronic flourishes and emotive crescendos. Delago has attracted the attentions of Bjork and the Cinematic Orchestra, both of whom he has accompanied for duets as well as working on film scores. The performance includes a live AV show and follows the release of lauded album, Metro monk, on Tru Thoughts earlier this year.
