Gondwana Records’ Mammal Hands are set to debut their 2016 album, Floa, at Band on the Wall. The show, which is billed as part of the Manchester Jazz Festival programme, will also see the Norwich-based trio performing songs from 2014’s Animalia LP, which was met with critical acclaim from the jazz reviewing world. Their return to a venue synonymous with Manchester jazz over the years is all the more relevant given their recommendation to Gondwana Records label boss Matthew Halsall via GoGo Penguin, who are this city’s most recent export of a similar ilk.

Thu 28 Jul, Band on the Wall, 25 Swan Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester, M4 5JZ. Tel: 0161 834 1786, 7.30pm, £8, www.bandonthewall.org
