If you can’t wait for Liverpool’s lauded event in September, Night and Day Café celebrates the return of psychedelia its own way this May, with a Manchester edition of Psych Fest: a gathering of the genre’s community from Manchester and beyond. With the aim to bring together ‘the strange, the far out and the open-minded’, the festival calls upon the likes of motorik rockers TOY (pictured), The Grid’s Richard Norris, Telegram, Ghost Outfit and The Underground Youth to showcase the best of the current psych renaissance. Also on the bill are Helicon, Dead Rabbits, Purple Heart Parade, Second Shepherd, The Black Delta Movement and Jungfraus, with DJ sets from Richard Hector-Jones and Spaceman 3’s Pete Bassman.

Sat 31 May, Night and Day Café, Oldham Street, M1 1JN. Tel: 0161 236 4597, 5pm – 3am, £18, skiddle.com
