Macclesfield five-piece Racing Glaciers make the short trip north to break the ice like a ten tonne polar bear. Being a band from Macc, the Joy Division comparisons will be unavoidable – but their atmospheric soundscapes are as sonically distant from the revered post-punks as the years that have elapsed since the Factory Records folklore. Instead, their compositions nod to the modern indie-rock most successfully exemplified by the likes of Snow Patrol and Coldplay, complete with gut-clenchingly heartfelt vocals and melodic building blocks rising to arms-in-the-air crescendo.
