Savages are coming to the Albert Hall at the end of February. The debut by this London post-punk four-piece – Silence Yourself – was such an exhilarating album that, coupled with video evidence of their early live performances, roused suspicion in critics that these couldn’t possibly be newcomers. Tireless in their quest to better themselves to even greater heights, the quartet took on a nine-show New York residency that allowed the band to film themselves and pore over the crowd’s reaction to new songs, revise setlists and analyze their performances. The result, Adore Life, is a breathtakingly dynamic and raw record that explores themes of desire in the context of death and sadness; for there is no one without the other.
