Tickets are now on sale for special food and art experience at the Whitworth on Thursday 23 February, celebrating the life and work of artist Andy Warhol. Guest can enjoy a three-course meal in the glass-clad cafe in the gallery extension, with food and cocktails inspired by the Whitworth’s critically acclaimed Warhol show. Warhol was a prolific artist and the current exhibition focuses on work produced in the years after an attempt on his life in the late 1960s. It’s also one of the final shows to take place under the auspices of the Whitworth’s director Maria Balshaw ahead of her move to London’s Tate gallery. Tickets to this event include an Absolut vodka cocktail on arrival followed by a tour of the exhibition with senior curator at the Whitworth, Sam Lackey. The meal riffs on a New York Little Italy theme. Starter is roasted cauliflower risotto with toasted almonds and there’s a choice of braised beef cheek with smoked pancetta and mash or mushroom and nettle ravioli with walnut butter for the main event. Dessert is a blood orange polenta cake with vanilla mascarpone and Yorkshire rhubarb compote. Other attractions include Warhol-era music such as Velvet Underground and Patti Smith plus the gallery will be open until 9pm.
