With the official Christmas lights switch-on and grand opening of the Christmas markets taking place in the next few weeks, it’s probably time to start braving the shops and get started on that never-ending shopping list. Fortunately, Islington Mill is at hand with its annual festive craft fair, offering a unique selection of gift ideas for those in search of something a little more original this year. Gathering together the region’s best creative talent, there’ll be plenty of limited edition pieces to choose from, spanning homeware, prints, ceramics, fashion, jewellery, records and more. With stallholders including artist/illustrator Tasha Whittle, home accessoriser Mr.PS and photographer Andrew Brooks, many products will be special one-offs and available to take away on the night. Then, once you’ve secured your purchases, relax with a feast of festive favourites – mulled wine, homemade soup and mince pies – while you take in a performance by members of the BBC Philharmonic, safe in the knowledge that your Christmas shopping list will be just that little more lighter.
