World-famous theatre and circus production company, Cirque du Soleil, bring their newest production to the Trafford Centre this Autumn. Written and directed by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus, Amaluna is an epic love story that takes place on an island ruled by governesses and is loosely based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Known for her modern and pop-influenced take on stage and opera classics, Paulus’ adaptation is one with a feminist twist (female performers make up the majority of the cast) and all eight members of the band. Cirque du Soleil are the largest theatre production company in the world and those going to the show can expect their trademark Olympic-standard acrobatics, incorporating aerial straps, a teeterboard, a water bowl and tight ropes.
