Wed 16 Apr | Joey B | Tusk
Nice little mid-week number, as Swing Ting and Hotmilk’s Joey B joins the Oh Bacchanal! boys for an evening full of the best of dancehall, soca and afrobeats. If the weather holds up, this’ll be very fitting.
FREE entry

Thu 17 Apr | Ballin’ on a Budget | Mint Lounge
Everyone’s favourite messy Thursday night rave makes a return this week. Featuring a whole host of Manchester legends – including Chimpo, Skittles, Strategy and Fox – BOAB goes hard, but with the lack of pretence that all the best parties have. As usual, this will probably be a roadblock affair, so advance tickets are recommended.

Fri 18 Apr | In The Loop | The Roadhouse
After the success of last month’s Biggie instrumental special, 8 Gold Rings return to play live versions of classic G-Funk tracks. As ever, In The Loop’s exceptional residents hold it down for the rest of the night and there’ll be the usual cipher competition for all you budding MCs.

Sat 19 Apr | Swing Ting | Soup Kitchen
Ever since we started Swing Ting, we’ve talked about bringing Smutlee (pictured) up. Finally, he’s coming – one of the best at blending together the best of dancehall, garage and all that other good stuff. Murlo will be joined for a special back to back with Famous Eno – the duo created one of the smashes of last year with Ariel and there’s much more in store for the year ahead. Plus Joey B, fresh from his trip to the dirty south, Samrai, whose recent Riddim Trax EP has been making waves from London to NY and Fox, who has been smashing raves all over the place following the release of Masterplan with Bristolians My Nu Leng.
£5 all night long

Sun 20 Apr | Hieroglyphic Being | Venue tba
Not-so-secret warehouse party from the Faktion crew, as they celebrate Easter Sunday by bringing Jamal Moss – aka Hieroglyphic Being – to Manchester. Every time the Chicago resident has played Manchester the reaction has been crazy – and with the Faktion guys in the driving seat, this should be a top night of house music in an exciting setting. The location won’t be made public, but will be revealed once tickets have been purchased through PayPal at ashockinghobby@gmail.com.

Thanks to Swing Ting – street + soundsystem sounds 3rd Sat at Soup Kitchen.
