It’s not long now until Christmas is upon us – so what better way to welcome in the festive season than to attend the traditional Manchester Christmas Lights switch on? This year’s event takes place in Albert Square on Friday 4 November. The night always attracts a huge crowd, which comes to watch the lights decorate the city streets, along with live performances from some of the UK’s most popular entertainers before the all-important flicking of the switch. The switch on is closely followed by the return of the city’s beloved Christmas markets from Thursday 10 November.
