Another week, another restaurant opens in Ancoats. The name Elnecot is derived from the original settlement that was reported to be in the area. After running a Melbourne restaurant, local chef Michael Clay is interested in resurrecting old English recipes using locally-sourced, seasonal produce, as well as pickling, making homemade jams and chutneys, and making sure the bar represents breweries and distilleries of the North West. Watch this space for a review to follow.

Now open: Elnecot, 39 Blossom Street, Ancoats, Manchester, M4 6AJ. www.elnecot.com
