In the era of blogs and email newsletters, you might think that there would be little love for zines anymore. However, some folks are keeping the proud tradition of the hand-made, self-published, small circulation magazine alive. Those people are behindNorthwest Zinefest, which will take place at the Star & Garter in May. The event will bring together many different makers to display and sell their work. There will be over 30 stalls, featuring not only zines, but also other printed goodies. Free workshops and other activities are also planned, with full details being announced soon. The event is organised by the people behind Salford Zine Library, an archive of self-published creative works which can be found at Nexus Art Café in the Northern Quarter.

Sat 30 May, The Star and Garter, 18-20 Fairfield Street, M1 2QF, 11am – 5pm, FREE entry, northwestzinefest.wordpress.com
