Taking over The Lowry for a long weekend in July is U.Dance, the annual youth dance festival. Featuring 450 performers from a host of dance groups, it is the largest festival of its kind in the UK. There will be a total of six performances and 28 workshops taking place throughout The Lowry, including the Lyric Theatre, the foyer spaces, and even outside in the plaza. Here are three of the best: The Saturday evening event will feature 12 troupes with an eclectic mix of dance styles, including South Asian, Street, and Hip Hop. Also performing will be Wheelfever Projects, a troupe of young people with disabilities. Dance on Water is a free-to-attend performance that was inspired (bizarrely enough) by an 80-mile, week-long journey exploring the canals and waterways between Birmingham and Salford. Signatures is a work developed in association with Manchester University. Based around the theme of ‘space’, the piece celebrates British astronaut Tim Peake, and Manchester being European City of Science this year.
