In the early to mid-Noughties, the Northern Quarter wasn’t the bohemian hub that it is today, to say the very least. Its current success is thanks to a small number of businesses that took a chance on a ropey area. One such early pioneer was Common, which has now been going strong for 10 years. To celebrate, the bar will be hosting a five-day-long party later this month, with many events planned. Stop Making Sense, which finished its Thursday night residency earlier this year, will be hosting a special seasonal one-off, while Best Foot Forward, once a staple of Common’s Saturday nights, will also be returning for one night only. The Sunday sees Aficionado and Ménage A Trois perform a set filled with retro pop and underground influences: expect the Doobie Brothers mixed with Joy Division. See the website below for details of all the shindig-ery taking place.
