Acclaimed tapas restaurant El Gato Negro may be opening in Manchester, according to food and drink blog eat/drink/manchester. The Ripponden-based restaurant has, via its sister company, applied for a licence in the King Street spot formerly occupied by Brasserie Blanc, which closed its doors in 2009, having occupied the two-unit spot for 10 years. El Gato Negro (pictured) was opened by Simon Shaw in 2005 in the West Yorkshire village of Ripponden, and has gone on to receive awards and commendations from Michelin Bib Gourmand, the Good Food Guide, Harden’s and the F Word.
