With the opening of HOME, Innside Manchester and Q-Park – and the impending new Sainsburys and Pizza Exptress – First Street looks set to be Manchester’s hottest new neighbourhood and cultural hub, and an expanse of all the right things. To celebrate the arrival of our new Mancunian neighbours, there’s going to be a huge party with a day of theatre, games, live music, street food and DJs. You’ll find food and drink from Vin Van Voom, Coffee Cranks Cooperative, Ginger’s Comfort Emporium, Fat Annie’s, Matilda’s and Dim Sum Su, live music from Mr Wilson’s Second Liners, Besses O’ Th’ Barn Brass Band, Calaita Flamenco Son, Pantonic All Stars Orchestra and Dr Butler’s Handstand Medicine Band, plus storytelling, giant games and booze, along with a rooftop garden party featuring Howling Rhythm, Mof Gimmers, Thom Docking (Drunk at Vogue/Hot Space) and Red Laser Disco DJs. In short: a right royal rave to welcome all the newbies to the hood.
