A firm fixture on the Northern Quarter’s Newton Street, Cottonopolis has now expanded its food and drink offering with a dedicated weekend brunch menu. The menu is available between 10am and 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays and comprises snacks, waffles, specials and brunch-friendly cocktails. On our visit, when the venue was full by midday, we opted for chicken karaage and scrambled eggs with waffles (£10) and the moorish, satisfying pork, kimchi and sweet potato hash (£9, pictured), plus sides of beef and quail egg nigirli (£5 for three) and tomato and bacon skewers (£5 for two), served with a sticky dipping sauce. With any mains order, you can add bottomless prosecco, bellini or bloody marys for £12.50, while four additional cocktails (including tea and peach flavoured options) are also available. See the full menu here. Cottonopolis bar and restaurant opened in November 2015, and was shortlisted in the Bar of the Year category of last year’s Manchester Food & Drink Festival Awards.
