Nicholas Royle, the professor of English from the University of Sussex, and author of the philosophical work The uncanny and the novel Quilt, is teaming up with novelist, MMU creative writing lecturer and short story writer Nicholas Royle, author of First Novel (which was actually his seventh novel) to launch their new publications: An English Guide to Birdwatching (a novel) and Ornithology (a collection of short stories). To complicate things a little further, both authors appear in each others’ fictions, and parts of Nicholas Royle’s novel are set in the IABF, where Nicholas Royle and Nicholas Royle hosted an event a few years ago … in an event that was chaired by Matthew Frost (from the Literature Festival), who is chairing this event. Expect laughs, whisky and a disquisition into the nature of fiction.
