Yes you’re reading this right. Free Clarks are promised at this event at Soup Kitchen to celebrate the publication of a new book about the history of the British shoe brand in Jamaica. Popular with reggae and dancehall artists since the 1960s, Clarks have been worn by some of the islands musical greats, a story explored for the first time by author and DJ Al Fingers. He will be DJing on the night alongside Ashley Beedle (X-Press Two, Black Science Orchestra). Fifty jerk dinners will be on sale, each served with a raffle ticket to win a pair of shoes or one of the new style guides.
