Stephen Sutcliffe at The Whitworth
The Whitworth gallery continues its series of ‘Tuesday Talks’ this week, with this talk from video artist Stephen Sutcliffe. Sutcliffe commands a vast archive of old broadcast material to create strange and hypnotic video installations through reappropriating footage and imperceptible edits, which have been displayed at galleries all over the UK including Wakefield’s Hepworth Gallery and The Whitworth itself. The talk is free to attend, but you’ll have to register through Eventbrite to guarantee yourself a seat.
Tue 14 Mar, Whitworth Art Gallery, Oxford Road, Manchester, M15 6ER. Tel: 0161 275 7450, 12pm – 2pm, www.eventbrite.co.uk

Swing Ting Q&A at Texture
As part of their regular series of Screened Q&A events, Texture are bringing Soup Kitchen’s Swing Ting boys in for a special session. Swing Ting is a club night founded in 2008, the brainchild of Platt, Samrai and Joey B. All three boys will all be present to answer questions on their nights, their award-winning record label and their origins as cult radio stars.
Tue 14 Mar, Texture, 67 Lever Street, Manchester, M1 1FL. 7pm – 10.30pm, www.eventbrite.co.uk

Champion of Youth at Fuel Café Bar (pictured)
The organisers from last year’s Manchester Popfest are back with this one-off gig at Withingtons Fuel Café Bar. Newbie alt poppers Champion of Youth top the bill, despite this being their first gig, but pleasingly they’re backed up on the night by local garage rockers Twin Visions who put out their first single Only Right last year, and established acid folksters Sprinters. This is a great little line up for a Thursday gig.
Thu 16 Mar, Fuel Café Bar, 448 Wilmslow Road, Manchester, M20 3BW. 8pm – 2am, www.facebook.com
