The search for high-quality pre-weekend saver menus takes us to the Northern Quarter’s Odd Bar, where they’re boasting a full day of food and drink discounts. Never shy of a play of words, that means you can feast on fodder like the Holy Cow! 8oz burger with bacon, the Goodness Gracious Pea chick pea and red onion bhaji burger or the Wham Bam Thank You Ham glazed roast ham with courgette – each available with change from £5. Our thirst-quenching picks from their subsequent extended happy hour are the £10 bottle of wine or two Sols for a fiver. Elsewhere on the menu, eagle-eyed diners will spot a brand new selection of small platters comprised of lively takes on everything from halloumi to chicken strips, of which any three are £13.

Thursdays, Odd Bar, 30-32 Thomas Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester, M4 1ER, food from 12-9pm, happy hour from 9pm-midnight, www.oddbar.co.uk
