Levenshulme might not be the first place you’d expect to find a poetry night – but find one you will, if you head to the Isis café next Monday. Hard Rain Poetry is a monthly meet-up where people write and share poems and stories about a certain theme. This month’s subject is ‘Justice: home and away’, and features special guest Lydia Meryll, a social activist and justice campaigner. The evening begins at 6pm with a workshop, where people can share ideas and poetry. Later, at 8pm, is an open mic spot, where participants can present what they have written to the whole group. Musicians are also welcome to perform. This event is free and open to all – even brave souls with no creative writing experience.
