Though initially receiving mixed reviews when it was first published in 1847, Wuthering Heights has gone onto become a classic in English literature and has since inspired film, radio and TV adaptations, operas and of course a Kate Bush track of the same name. Now it is the subject of one of Scotland’s most interesting theatre makers; Peter McMaster’s theatrical debut. This performance has already won The Arches Platform 18 new directors award and sees four male performers revisit the iconic landscapes and characters from the text, with themes exploring how the lives and aspirations of men are now different. As we move ahead into the 21st Century, it questions what should remain in history and what we should take to the future.
