Local hip hop heroes The Natural Curriculum have been lurking in Manchester’s shadows for years, honing their live act to a certain kind of murky perfection. Their first album The Best Fertiliser Is The Gardener’s Shadow is grass roots British hip hop of the best kind, as big and funny as it is clever. The basement of the Whiskey Jar will see the group performing live, backed up by funk-fuelled cosmic bros Mothership Connection. TNC selectors Ink and Omas will be joined by Taste The Diff’rence’s El Statiko for classic hip hop, rare soul and choice funk.

Fri 30 Sep, The Whiskey Jar, 14 Tariff Street, M1 2FF. Tel: 0161 237 5686, 7-11pm, £4, £2 Facebook list, www.facebook.com
