Ideas Worth Fighting For, a week-long exhibition, brings together 12 of the UK’s biggest artists and designers’ work for a collection that features prints, paintings, installations, banners and more. Each artist has created work specifically for the exhibition, or donated a piece, that gives a personal view of something they feel passionately about. Artists and designers involved in the exhibition include Mark Beaumont, Mary Branson, Mackenzie Thorpe, Rob Ryan and Marcus Walters. Walters’ work celebrates the impact of protest posters; their direct message to the viewer, as well as their clarity and bold design. Walters’ designs for the exhibition have been featured heavily in its promotion, furthermore emphasising the importance of eye-catching, in-your-face poster campaigns. This exhibition is part of a programme called Join the Radicals; which is one of a number of ways that the People’s History Museum has been working to keep its national profile as the UK’s museum of democracy. Ideas Worth Fighting For is a partner event of Design Manchester – read our Top 5 picks.
