Now the hangover from Victoria Baths’ IndyManBeerCon has begun to subside, you can indulge yourself in a little hair of the dog courtesy of The Independent Salford Beer Festival. The festival runs for two days, during which it will be showcasing casks from independent breweries scattered across the North. Over 30 breweries will be setting up shop in Saint Sebastian’s Community Centre, covering the full spectrum of beers and ales and ranging in strength from a modest 3.33% (Half Devil, Allgates) to a stodgy 7.8% (Grounds For Divorce, Five Towns Brewery, chew before swallowing). Beyond the boozing, First Chop brewery’s own Funk ‘n’ Souldier Rik Garner will be manning the wheels of steel on the Friday and a live set from poppy guitarios Duke and the Darlings caps off the Saturday night. Behind the boozing, This event will help support all the great work Saint Sebastian’s carry out in the local area. As is customary with these kinds of events, you’ll also be able to purchase pies.

Fri 24 – Sat 25 Oct, Saint Sebastian’s Community Centre, 1 Douglas Green, Salford, M6 6ES, 11.30am – 4.30pm and 6pm-11pm, £3.50 (early) / £4.50 (late), www.salfordbeerfestival.com
