Over Spring Bank Holiday weekend, King Street and the surrounding area will be host a festival featuring special events, live music, and food. The organisers make no bones about the fact that King Street struggled in past years, with several outlets closing. However, it has regained some of its mojo recently, and this event is something of a relaunch as well as a celebration. Over 50 brands are taking part, including most of the fashion stores for which the street is famous. You’ll find in-store events, gifts, discounts, and giveaways. Expect complimentary prosecco in abundance. The restaurants Quill and El Gato Negro will have alfresco dining, and at The Grill on the Alley, there will be on-street BBQ and bar. Other eateries are offering exclusive cocktails, special menus, and tastings. There’s also events for kids, such as storytelling at Waterstones. A pop-up English country garden will give visitors the chance to play summer games to relax after all that shopping and eating.
