Grime madness down at the Mansion this Wednesday, as two of Bristol’s premier grime-merchants join forces with one of this city’s best for a unique 2 hour set. Fri 30 Sep – Mike Skinner & DBM @ Sankeys
Sankeys draft in Mike Skinner aka The Streets for a DJ set to kick off the weekend – expect plenty of bass-heavy anthems and throwback garage classics. DBM are the real highlight here – a collaboration between Deadboy and Murlo – a take on dancehall influenced club music thru their own unique lens, they’re one of the most exciting acts operating worldwide right now. Skepta comes to Manchester fresh off the back of his Mercury Prize triumph to headline a bumper WHP lineup. Joining the grime king will be three pioneers of the genre Frisco, Plastician and Maximum, two of the UKs most fearsome MCs in the shape of Giggs and Casisdead, and genre-blurring heroes Mumdance and Murlo. Sat 1 Oct – Golden Egg Hip Hop St Ann’s Hospice Fundraiser @ Fallow Cafe
Golden Egg organiser and MC Seymour works for St Ann’s Hospice, caring for vulnerable people and their families affected by cancer and non-cancer life limiting illnesses. The hospice needs to raise £16 000 a day to provide high quality care for its 3000 patients annually. Community hip hop is one great way to do this: the night sees sets from the already legendary Cul De Sac, deepness from Conscious Poet, live band the Yolk with Deadkings aka Seymour and Pete Obsolete on the mic, plus providing live backing for a cypher.
