Gein’s Family Giftshop | Kosmonaut | Mon 5 Dec | 8pm | FREE
As Gein’s prepare for a new hour long sketch bonanza they invite good pals to try out their freshest bites too. Whilst that might put some off, with the idea of untested material appearing unpalatable its worth bearing in mind that Gein’s are excellent and they have the best friends. This month they welcome Harriet Dyer, Tom Burgess (of sketch duo Sam & Tom), Chris Washington and Jack Evans all for nowt. Go get chummy with them.

James Meehan | Gulliver’s | Wed 7 Dec | 7.30pm | £5
When he’s not busy being ‘the boss’ of Gein’s Family Giftshop, James Meehan is also a very accomplished stand up. After taking his debut show to the Fringe in the summer during a fallow month for his sketch duties he is now filming said special after some rave reviews garnered whilst in the Scottish capital. Taking on the subject of class Meehan sheds new light on the oft discussed subject, looking at the schisms in today’s world of culture due to what part of the country you were raised in or how much you paid for that fancy education. A bright and charming host, Meehan is well worth a punt whether he’s in or out of his Gein’s issued P.E. kit.

Paul Foot (pic) | The Lowry | Thu 8 Dec | 8pm | £17
Followers of Foot (or Footsies as they like to be called (they don’t)) will have already snapped up their tickets for the surrealist comic as soon as they heard ‘Professor Ketchup and his camembert piglet were coming to town. So this is more a shout out for those that might not be familiar with Paul Foot’s work, he’s appeared on all of the usual panel shows you might expect but it is in his live work where he comes to life and is well worth your time if you’re a fan of the likes of The Mighty Boosh or Reeves and Mortimer. Or LSD.

Randolph Tempest’s Christmas Party | 3 Minute Theatre | Fri 9 Dec | 7.30pm | £5
When Randolph Tempest’s SOS ended its tenure at the 3 Minute Theatre a little part of the spontanaeity and madness went out of the comedy scene in the city. Although he has recreated the feel of these manic nights in his solo shows or at other venues it still doesn’t quite feel the same as it does in 3MT where owners and operators Gina and John add to the mayhem. Tempest invites some of his comedy friends as well as other Peter Slater characters to make Christmas great again and after a year of ill fortune its right we finish it with a big laugh.
