Team behind Revolution launch Albert Hall restaurant
The folk behind the Revolution vodka bars are combining forces with Trof’s Albert Hall to help turn the venue into a ‘World-class’ entertainment, food and drink destination in the city. It all begins with the launch of Albert’s Schloss on the ground floor of the Grade II-listed building, meaning all traces of its former haunt Brannigans will finally be gone. With a nod to Alpine countries and billed as a ‘Bohemian pleasure palace’, there will be an in-house bakery dishing out fresh bread, pretzels, and puddings, with pilsner and schnapps created on site to wash it all down. It opens in October.

This is a chance for Manchester dwellers to sample the Michelin-star skills of the likes of Tom Barnes (L’enclume) and Dan Cox (Fera at Claridge’s) without leaving the city.
Week Gastronomique, Tues 15th-19th September, The French, The Midland Hotel, Peter Street, M60 2DS, tickets from £100, more information here.

Modern Caribbean comes to Chorlton
Run by mates Ez Saunders and Jimmy Gill, The Drop Cafe promises to bring modern Caribbean food to Chorlton, with a twist on classics like jerk chicken, curry goat and ackee and saltfish. Ez’s dad runs popular chain Kool Runnings, so he knows what he’s doing when it comes to Caribbean flavours. The pair hope to fit into the Chorlton vibe by serving dishes with a side of rum punch and reggae and over the next few weeks, they’ll be launching an extensive cocktail menu, as well as breakfasts.
Now open: The Drop Cafe, 356 Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton, M21 8AZ
