This week’s food and drink news includes the British Street Food Awards to be held at Mayfield Depot, a tap takeover from Nottingham’s Black Iris Brewery at PSBH, new restaurant openings across the city and the Manchester Gin Festival.

Book now: British Street Food Awards at GRUB
GRUB Food Fair’s permanent residency at the newly opened Mayfield Depot is set to host the highly acclaimed British Street Food annual awards. Following regional heats, the 17 street food traders crowned the best in the UK will fight it out to be the country’s champion, and go forward to represent Britain in the European Street Food Awards in Berlin. Due to the scale of delicacies on offer, the main part of the derelict railway station will be repurposed to house the event. There will be plenty of free food tastings ahead of voting in the People’s Choice award, and also samples of beers involved in GRUB’s craft beer festival. Tickets are £5, they’re available via the link below and are selling fast – get in there before they all go.
Sat 16 Sep, 12-10pm and Sun 17 Aug, 12-6pm, Mayfield Depot, Baring Street, Manchester, M1 2AD, www.eventbrite.co.uk
