The Didsbury restaurant has built up a reputation for on point cooking since opening, with this menu includes dishes like citrus cured sea trout, fennel and kohlrabi, followed by a main of sticky featherblade, Alphabet’s Crate Digger and pearl barley, BBQ and crispy kale. Crowdfunder: The Real Junk Food Project reaches its 20k target
Social enterprise project The Real Junk Food Project are raising cash to open a café and restaurant. Building on the success of pop-up events in the city, they save food that would otherwise be wasted, creating menus from the produce under the leadership of celebrated local former Aumbry chef Mary-Ellen McTague, and serve it on a pay-as-you-feel basis. It’s a not-for-profit operation, with all money being put back into supporting Manchester’s most vulnerable residents. This new project will see the creation of a new social space, majoring on inclusivity and bringing communities together, whilst serving delicious food. Everyone would be welcome, including those unable to afford to pay. After Manchester’s generosity this week, they have smashed their 20k target, so it looks set to become a reality. Watch this space for more info.
