This bold, gritty new production of Melody Loses Her Mojo follows Melody, Blessing and Rizla whose lives are all intertwined in ‘magical and surreal moments’. Melody is out of control in the care system and her only form of consistency is her toy monster Mojo. Blessing left Nigeria to visit her ‘aunty’ but ends up in the same system and longs to return home, while Rizla has just left care and found his new ‘family’ in older guys at the local hostel. This challenging story merges hip hop theatre, dance, puppetry and street art as the narrative unravels around of these three remarkable characters and their journeys. The artistic team behind this tale includes Sue Buckmaster (Theatre-Rites), Kwesi Johnson (Kompany Malakhi), club artist Mark Wigan (I.D. Magazine/The Brain Club) and Hobbit (International Beatboxing Champion). Written and directed by the award-winning Keith Saha, the production – by dynamic company 20 Stories High – is sure to be a hit with theatre lovers.
