One of Manchester International Festival’s highest profile commissions for this year’s festival, wonder.land – a new musical is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s novel Alice in Wonderland, with music by regular MIF collaborator Damon Albarn, and book and lyrics by Moira Buffini (of Tamara Drewe and Handbagged fame). The production is directed by the National Theatre’s incoming director Rufus Norris, and is designed by Rae Smith, with projections by 59 Productions and lighting by Paule Constable, the design team behind NT’s ultra-successful War Horse.
