Manchester’s first ever PugFest will pay tribute to classic science fiction as over 4,000 pug owners descend on MediaCityUK. This red-carpet celebration of the pug, the toy dog breed favoured by the likes of Andy Warhol and Paris Hilton, takes its inspiration from Comic-Con. Attendees can take selfies with Princess Leia next to the Star Wars Experience zone’s life-size X-Wing fighter. Three huge T-Rex dinosaurs will dominate the Jurassic Pug zone, and for those wanting to roll back the dog-years, there’s a Back To The Future zone too. TV stars include Judge Rinder, celebrity puppy Pip Ahoy, and a Britain’s Top Pug Model competition. Expect plenty of kids’ games and stalls bursting with doggie treats. If the weather’s hot, pugs can cool off in a splash zone while their owners watch the Wimbledon final on a big screen.
