The Eagle Inn, Salford has a calendar banging gigs lined up – and this Sunday is no exception. The headliner, Ryu Hankil, is a musical improviser from Korea. Born in Seoul in 1975, he aims to find alternative musical structures through the use of abandoned objects like clock workings, typewriters, and telephones. Joining Ryu on the night will be two other sonic experimenters. Lee Patterson is another artist known for performing with a wide array of unusual objects. He has been known to tinker with vibrating metal and springs, and even more unlikely paraphernalia, such as rock chalk and burning nuts. Spanish audio engineer and musician Roberto Mallo utilises feedback at the core of his performances, both when playing guitar and also saxophone. He has recently moved into the world of electronics, using synthesisers and cracked everyday machinery for his improvised works.
