A new and original work called Witness comes to the Lowry this November. This rich and complex contemporary dance piece focuses on mental health issues, in particular what happens to those around us when we fall sick. Witness has been choreographed by Kevin Edward Turner, the co-Artistic Director of Company Chameleon, and includes solo, duet and ensemble scenes. This ambitious work draws on Turner’s own experiences of being Bipolar and its effects on friends and family. Having danced and choreographed with many of the world’s leading companies, such as Rambert, Turner set up Chameleon in 2007 with fellow choreographer, Anthony Missen. The company is based at Z-Arts in Hulme and has been nominated for a number of awards including Best Independent Company category at the National Dance Awards. Witness forms part of a double bill with Words Unspoken; a short piece which explores the hidden secrets of the dancers through surprising and synchronised movements.
