The team behind Kosmonaut will finally open their new bar and restaurant later this month. Situated at 26 Stevenson Square, PLY promises to be a creative multipurpose venue for drinking, eating, meeting and socialising. The development of its 5,500 square foot ground floor unit – making it one of the area’s largest new openings of recent times – began last spring. With launch events planned for 25, 26 and 27 March, PLY will feature a book exchange, doodle wall and monthly exhibitions – as well as its focal point, a wood-fired disco ball oven (pictured), which will bake PLY’s selection of Neapolitan pizzas in 90 seconds. To mark the opening, PLY will be giving away 100 take-away pizzas this Friday (20 March) to the first 100 people who visit them on Stevenson Square from 12.30pm. Kosmonaut, which opened on Tariff Street in August 2012, last year won Bar of the Year awards from both CityLife and DesignMyNight.
