A colourful carnival of queer cabaret will brighten up your September at Contact Theatre. Mother’s Ruin are back with a riotous evening of comedy, music, drag and poetry presented by their bearded bride of bedlam Timberlina. Appearing on the bill will be Gerry Potter, formerly famed for his poetry persona Chloe Poems, queer Muslim writer Afshan D’souza-Lodhi from the Commonword collective who’s about to drop her debut collection ‘On Desire’, vivacious lip-synching storyteller Eva Serration, stand-up sketch act Joe Sutherland whose show ‘Model / Actress’ sees his Edinburgh Fringe debut this year, and Holly Penfold, described by legendary lyricist Sir Tim Rice as a whole host of divas: “they all look wonderful and sound sensational.” Mother’s Ruin brings radical alternative performance to stages in Manchester and beyond: it’s quite normal for their shows to sell out, so book your tickets early.
