Barbecue mecca Red’s has launched its new menu this week, inspired by its owner’s annual pilgrimage to the US. The expansive Albert Square restaurant has added several new items – including the messy-but-tasty Pitmaster S’Wich (pictured), featuring Black Angus brisket, cheese and jalapeño smoked sausage and pulled pork with tangy slaw, and The Sleepy James – comprising southern fried chicken breast between two hyper-sweet waffles. A new sharing feast, The Dirty Tomahawk, includes two 1kg-plus ribeye steaks grilled on hot coals, plus burnt beets, bacon-wrapped jalapeños, swine fries and plenty more. With the return of the popular Frickles (fried pickles, of course) to the Sides options, plus some new additions to the Little Plates menu – such as the eight-hour-smoked Ox Cheek Bone Luge, which includes a shot of whisky to luge down the empty bone into your mouth – and no-brainer Toasted Marshmallow Sweet Potato Pie now featuring on the Sweet Things list, the menu has been given a big new lease of life just as the Christmas season approaches. A new Now Safe For Work Lunch menu, meanwhile, offers seven quick-and-easy options at £6.95 each, while nine new cocktails and four additional beers complete the overhaul.
