Manchester Science Festival has been feeding our brains for ten years now – and this week, they’re hosting a supper club. But this is no regular pop up. The microbiologists of Manchester Metropolitan University have joined forces with foodie champions Grub to showcase dishes made by some of the city’s best street food stalls with a range of ingredients that owe their production to microorganisms. The Grub team host this event at their old stomping ground, Runaway Brewery, who will provide drinks on arrival, while local food traders Filfil Falafel, Wallace and Sons and Pollen Bakery prepare a three course meal comprised of daal with aubergine pickle, pork shoulder and kimchi bao with sesame dressed edamame or tofu Gyoza wit pickled shiitake and a sourdough and cultured butter pudding. Booking essential.

Wed 26 Oct, The Runaway Brewery, 4 Millgate, Dantzic Street, M4 4JW. 7.30pm, £20, www.manchestersciencefestival.com
