Mancunian and internationally renowned musician, filmmaker and composer Barry Adamson brings a feast of film and music to HOME as part of a season called Soundtrack. Opener is David Lynch’s Lost Highway (Fri 5 Aug). Adamson himself worked on the soundtrack, alongside Angelo Badalamenti, and a live Q&A will take place after the film’s screening with HOME’s Artistic Director of Film, Jason Woods. As with any Lynchian piece, the music submerges the viewer in a dreamlike state, so a fitting follow up is the mesmeric Under the Skin (Sat 6 Aug). Starring Scarlett Johansson in a metamorphic role that helps transform Mica Levi’s debut soundtrack into a masterpiece. Under the Skin is followed by Anatomy of a Murder (Sun 7 Aug), Touch of Evil (Wed 10 Aug), Performance (Sat 13 Aug), Psycho (Fri 26 Aug), Cape Fear (Mon 29 Aug), and finally Shadows (Wed 31 Aug) to be part of his season. From classical to modern, European to American and Scorsese to Welles, Soundtrack Season follows a long catalogue of a critical and vital relationships of culture- that between film and music.
